Meri Levy is a Registered Marriage and Family Therapy Intern working with Oak Creek in Pleasant Hill. She offers individual and couples counseling for clients struggling with depression, anxiety, life transitions, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, and parenting stress. Areas of specialization include postpartum depression, parent-infant bonding difficulties, and parents coping with a high-needs baby or “spirited” child. She also works with clients who are considering or are in the process of weaning off of antidepressant medications. Meri is a graduate of Tufts University and has a Masters in Counseling Psychology from JFK University. She works in a client-centered framework, borrowing from Attachment Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems Theory and Gottman Couples Counseling. Meri is the founder and former Executive Director of The Nurture Center, a store and parent resource center in Lafayette, California. She is a UCLA Certified Lactation Educator, and has years of experience as a parent educator, leading new parent support groups and working one-on-one with parents. She is the mother of three children, and had both personal and professional experience with postpartum depression, anxiety, and panic disorder as well as parenting a spirited child.
