My name is Nona Brady and I am a Marriage and family therapist intern (IMF#62318), working under the supervision and license of Stephen Polin, LMFT 7861. I have worked for Oak Creek counseling Center since March of 2011. I have years of experience working in Early Childhood Mental health and specialize in family sessions and dyadic work using an Attachment perspective. I place a strong emphasis on trauma histories and the creation of coherent personal narratives. I enjoy Narrative therapy, feeling strongly that Post- Modern therapies approach the new and the different in ways we all yearn for. I have two Master's Degrees. I obtained my first Master's degree in Fine Arts from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York in 1993. More recently I received a Master's in Professional Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University (2009). I am trained and embrace Expressive Arts in my work and explore Existential viewpoints and symbolic dream imagery as it pertains to the client’s Psychodynamic and Object Relations. In simpler terms I love working with all kinds of folks, from individuals to couples, to children and families. I also have years of experience counseling adolescents and adults with co-occurring disorders (i.e. dually diagnosed-substance abuse and mental health). I see pathology as being mostly trauma informed. I find trauma to be a lens more encompassing and honest, taking into consideration current contextual factors and cultural paradigms, embracing the irony of historical legacy. I am trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and have utilized a Cognitive Behavioral approach for years in managed care, I am well versed in time limited treatments and look forward to working with you in a flexible manner, addressing your needs and exploring your desires. Thank you for your time, I look forward to hearing from you, and talking soon. |
