In reading this page right now, perhaps you have come to realize the way you have been going is no longer sustainable. Life is never a straight trajectory and events can catapult us into an emotional state we are unfamiliar with and can’t seem to recover from. Or, perhaps our forward movement is bogged down by recurring patterns that exhaust us and separate us from our joy. Perhaps a relationship is stalled or has become too painful, and the original reason for being together seems lost. Or, a child or parent is undergoing a difficult time and begun behaviors which are negatively impacting the family or partnership. Or, it could be that, right now, you find yourself at a life juncture and are ready to gain new awareness. Perhaps the idea of a neutral, skilled therapist to help guide and lend clarity now sounds like a good idea, where before it was not under consideration?
I am a psychotherapist with 5 years clinical and 10 years holistic counseling experience, providing me with a profound respect for each person that walks through the door. With compassion I feel acutely the honor of accompanying you on this portion of your journey. Collaboratively, in a safe and supportive environment, we explore what is most deeply real for you as revealed by recurring life themes. Week to week, we tap into your strengths and gain insight in creative and fun ways that highlight the unique person you are. Along the way you will build self-compassion and learn coping skills, experience lightened mood and a diminished feeling of overwhelm. With attuned presence and these tools and more, we will address the issues that brought you and your loved ones to therapy.
I have experience treating those who struggle with addictions, academic issues, ADD/ADHD, adoption, anxiety, chronic pain, acculturation, depression, anger management, emotional dis-regulation, identity, LGBTQ, self harm, self esteem, bi-polar, eating and personality disorders, health issues, incarceration, stress, PTSD and trauma, life transitions such as loss, divorce or the end of a relationship and the shift into elder-hood. For the last four years I have led groups in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Parenting, Addiction Management, Anger Management and Life Transitions, such as chronic pain management.
Because of my love of art and literature, the mysterious power of symbol and metaphor might be incorporated into our work together. Sessions could incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy, which teaches how to regulate emotions, behaviors, thoughts and relationships as well as Psychodynamic, Expressive Arts, Experiential, Existential Humanistic and Strengths Based modalities.
I am the mother of three grown sons. I welcome clients of multiple diversities, genders, and sexual orientations in my practice. Your first session is complimentary. When ready to meet, please phone me at 510-320-3051. I look forward to it.
