Telehealth

At Oak Creek, we are dedicated to making therapy accessible by offering below market session rates as well as Telehealth therapy. This page will go over some facts about Telehealth and serve as an orientation on how to access your Telehealth sessions at Oak Creek if you and your therapist have agreed upon meeting online.
Is Telehealth Right for You?

Telehealth has grown exponentially over the last 5 years, and with that growth has come some generalizations on the topic. The Oak Creek Team references The California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS)  Telehealth FAQ (June 23, 2025).

What “Telehealth” Means in California
Telehealth refers to mental health services delivered through a secure video platform. In California, therapists must hold an active state license, follow all confidentiality and ethical standards, and obtain informed consent at the start of Telehealth services. Since July 1, 2023, California therapists are also required to complete at least three hours of telehealth-specific training.

Why Telehealth Offers Real Benefits
  • Relational Access & Flexibility: You can meet with your therapist without commuting or arranging child care—making therapy more consistent and easier to fit into your life.
  • Inclusive & Safe: Telehealth can offer a more accessible and comfortable space for those navigating systemic barriers, personal safety concerns, or logistical challenges. It allows each person to engage in therapy from a setting that feels familiar and supportive—on their own terms.
  • Effective & Supportive: Research shows that telehealth can be just as effective as in-person care for many mental health concerns. The healing connection between therapist and client remains central—no matter the format.

When Telehealth Might Not Be Ideal
In-person sessions may be more helpful in situations involving emergencies, poor internet access, or a strong preference for face-to-face connection. We’ll work with you to determine the best fit.
How To Access Your Session.

Once you have filled out and returned all the appropriate forms to your therapist, they will create a Google invitation that you can add to your personal digital calendar. You do not need to be logged in to anything and you do not need to have a Google account to be able to join and access your session. You can access your appointment in 3 different ways.

  1. You can access the Google Meet Conference from the original appointment email that is sent when your Therapist schedules your appointment.
  2. Clicking the event in your personal calendar will open up a window with the link to the Google Meet Video Conference.
  3. 10 minutes before your appointment, you will receive an email with a link to a Google Meet Video Conference.

After your session, you will pay through one of our various approved payment methods and are required to send a screenshot of the payment and send it to your therapist so they can confirm and track payments.

Payment Methods:

Zelle *preferred* - 9253839421
Venmo & Cash App - @ OakCreekCounseling

Your therapist will be able to help guide you though this process as well if you have any questions or concerns. Please reach out to them directly if further assistance is required.
